The yard is home to some 37 horses of varying ages from youngsters to veterans - all of whom are still able to enjoy regular exercise out and about in the beautiful Cornish countryside.
Jo and Andrea had their work cut out, weighing, measuring and scoring each horse before giving individual nutritional advice. We all know horses come in all shapes and sizes with the fatter ones being more prone to Laminitis and some older horses being dentally challenged.
Tanya, Rokwenna's event organiser said “ We’re a good sized, non competitive yard and the feedback from all the liveries has been really positive. They all felt that both girls looked thoroughly at their respective horses and gave some excellent, sound advice. All in all a brilliant day, it was so good to get some knowledgeable, professional feed guidence right here in our own yard!”
These are some of the recommendations for feeding different types of horses and ponies:
Dengie Healthy Hooves - A Low sugar, low starch complete feed for leisure and ponies. The fibre content and garlic provide slow release energy are essential for maximising gut health. Baileys Competition Mix - A highly digestible micronized cereals, bruised oats, oils and nutrient dense mix, with added energy sources including fibre, oil and cereals. Ideal for horses in moderate to high work or competition such as show jumping, Eventing. The quick energy release will help your horse give you his maximum performance levels every time.
Baileys Topline Conditioning Cubes - A Highly digestible, non heating energy giving feed. The quality protein content ensures amino acids can do their stuff building healthy tendons and ligaments. With Bioplex minerals which means it can be easily absorbed and utilised by your horse.
